A person who works to make clothes for people is known as a tailor. They might make new clothing or make some changes to the clothes so that it gets a perfect fit to the owner, which means they also fix clothes.
They are mainly responsible for modifying, altering, and repairing garments for their customers, which are based on the customer’s choice.

Advantages of Being a Tailor
Working as a tailor is not that stressful:
Being a tailor, you do not have to take much stress. As at some point in time you may have a huge workload, but that does not last for much time, you can rather work in a relaxed manner and you can also take some breaks in between your work time.
Hence, compared to some other job profession who have to work with huge pressure all day long, you can have a stress-free work life, so if you are a type of person who loves to work in a free mind then being a tailor will be a good choice for you.
Tailor can start their own business:
Another advantage of being a tailor is that you can start your own business. If you are new to this line, at first you can join some company to learn and get experience for your work and then you can open your own company.
You can be your own boss, no one will be there to make your work schedule, you can manage your work schedule. So, if you are the type of person who likes to be his or her own boss, then the idea of being a tailor is good.
Tailors can work indoors:
Being a tailor, you can also work indoors. Some other people in some other professionals who have to work outdoors, like a construction worker or a garbage man who have to work outdoors in any situation, that may be hot summer or cold winter, but they have to continue with their work.
But you, on the other hand, can have your own cabin to do your work and you can also change your working environment by your own choice like you can turn on your air conditioner if it is a hot summer.
Tailors can avoid hard physical work:
Being a tailor, you can also avoid hard physical work, for instance, a construction worker has to carry heavy loads.
They also have some serious problems in the future, like back pain. But you on other hand do not have to think about all these problems, and can have a good work-life. Hence, people who work in a hard physical manner, get back to their home tired and they also cannot give time to their family.
But being a tailor, you can have a stress-free life and as you also do not have to do hard physical work so you will also not be tired after getting back home.
Tailors do not have to work in classical office job manner:
Another upside of being a tailor is that you also do not have a classical office job. Some people have to do all the paperwork just by sitting in their cabin in front of a computer screen all day long.
Those people also complain about their work life. Some people get bored in a classical office job after some years of working in the same condition.
Most of them also get some serious issues like problems in eyesight. But you have to do some physical work just by sitting in your cabin.
Do not need any college degree to become a tailor:
It is one of the biggest advantages that, to become a tailor you will not need any college degree. Which means you can just start earning after completing high school.
Many other people who are in some other professionals have to get some college degrees for their career profession, and for that reason, they have to spend some extra years in college. But to become a tailor you just have to be skilled in your profession.
No headache of student loan:
As we discussed in our last point, you will not need any college degree so you can save all your money and don’t have to spend on your college fees.
Like other people who need college degrees for their careers, they may have to take student loans for their college life. But later on, they have to take the headache of returning the amount to the bank.
You on the other hand do not have to get this kind of headache.
Disadvantages of Being a Tailor
Tailors have rather low social status:
As a tailor, there are some disadvantages and, and one of them is that you will have rather a low status in society. Hence, some people also make fun of your work and some may even belittle.
Tailors do not make decent amount of money:
Another big disadvantage of being a tailor is that you are not able to make a decent amount of money. Instead, you will earn less than other people in some other profession.
Hence, if you are the kind of person who loves money more than anything and wants a luxurious lifestyle then becoming a tailor will be the wrong choice for you.
Tailors may need a second job for their livings:
As your income will be low, you may have to do a second job for your living. As we discussed, your income will be rather low so for paying your bills and for some extra savings you may need to do a second job.
Tailors may not afford good health insurance:
For your low income, you may also not be able to afford good medical or health insurance. In fact, most of the health insurance is high as compared to your income. Hence, in some worst cases, you may not even be able to afford some important medical treatments.
Teleworking is not possible:
As your work will be in a physical manner, teleworking is also not possible in this profession. Which means you have to be present in your workplace to complete your work.
In some other professions who have teleworking facilities can do their work while sitting at home. But you as a tailor have to do your work manually by sitting at your workplace.
