Advantages of Being a Taxi Driver

Taxi drivers can avoid hard physical work:

As a taxi driver, you can avoid hard physical work. Many other people have other job careers like construction workers who have to work hard in a physical manner, like lifting heavy weights and work full of risks.

They mostly suffer from back pain in their old age. But you on other hand just have to drive a car for your passengers to earn money, and you may not have to suffer from health issues like back pain etc.

Taxi drivers can work with people:

As a taxi driver, you can work with people, which is also an advantage of being in this profession. Other people who have to sit in front of a computer and work all day long, do not even get that time to interact with their colleagues.

But you on the other side can have some discussion with the passengers whom you will drop to their chosen destination.

Hence, if you are the type of person who likes to communicate with other people then being a taxi driver will be a good job for you.

Taxi drivers do not have to work in classical office job manner:

Being a taxi driver, you do not have to work in a classical office job manner. Most of the people who have to do classical office jobs, have to sit in their cabin or office room in front of a computer screen all day long.

Most of them get bored within a few years of their career life and it is also effective for their eyes.

But as we discussed in the last point, you do not have to do all this kind of work. In fact, you can meet many new types of people.

Working as a taxi driver is not that stressful:

Another upside is that working as a taxi driver is not that stressful. While driving in rush hours can be stressful, it will not last for many hours.

You can also improve your driving skills and also the risk of accidents will not be that high.

To become a taxi driver, you will not need any college degree:

One of the best advantages of being a taxi driver is that you will not need any college degree to become a taxi driver.

In many other professions they need a college degree for making their career on that but you on other hand do not need any college degree.

This means you can start earning as a taxi driver just after completing high school. As many of your friends have to go to college for the degrees while you can earn on that time.

Taxi drivers do not have any headache of student loans:

As we discussed that you do not need to go to college, it also means that you can really save a lot of money.

As you may know that it needs a decent amount of money for college fees and degrees. Some people who do not have that many savings have to take out student loans for their college studies.

Student loans make college life better and peaceful but after they have to pay back the amount which gets a headache. But you do not have to worry about the student loan.

Disadvantages of Being a Taxi Driver

Taxi drivers have the huge responsibility for their passengers:

Being a taxi driver, you have to take responsibility for your passengers so that they can reach their destination safely. You have to follow all the safety rules and regulations. You have to remember that your small mistake can turn into a huge accident.

You should always be aware that if you meet with an accident then not only your life will be in danger, but also the risk of the passengers’ life will be in danger.

Taxi drivers do not make a decent amount of money:

One of the biggest disadvantages is that you as a taxi driver cannot earn a decent amount of money. You may also not be able to pay all your bills and also you may not be able to get good health insurance and health facilities.

Hence, if you are the type of person who likes to live a luxurious life then it will be a bad idea to choose this career profession.

Taxi drivers have to work in nighttime:

Another disadvantage of being a taxi driver is that you have to work at night. Many taxi drivers also have to work at night.

Working at nighttime means putting ourselves in an artificial environment that is against human nature. And it also means that you may have some sleeping problems. Hence, by deciding to become a taxi driver, make sure that you are ready for work for that extra hour.

Taxi drivers do not get free weekends:

Being a taxi driver, you will also not get free weekends. Most taxi drivers work seven days a week. For that reason, they do not get time to spend time with their loved ones or with their family and friends.

Passengers may be difficult:

Another downside is that you may also get some difficult passengers. Some people can never be pleased with whatever they get, that means no matter how good you drive some passengers will never be satisfied with your service and will always try to find some issues. That can demotivate you in your career.

Taxi drivers have low social status:

As a taxi driver, your social status will be rather low than many other people in some other job profession. Like a doctor and engineer who gets a high social status in the society but your profession on the other side can be questionable to many people.

Difficult to change field:

As there will be no need to get any college degree, it means you do not get as much knowledge as other people who will study in college to achieve degrees. So, you will still remain unknown about many other things so it will be hard for you to change your job other than just driving.
